Holy Week at PHPC
Maundy Thursday: Maundy Thursday is believed to be the day Jesus celebrated the Last Supper with His disciples. This service, at 7:30 pm. on April 18, features communion and Rev. Sarah Are preaching.
Good Friday Family Service: All are invited to our first family-friendly Good Friday service on April 19 at 4 pm in Founders Hall with the Worship at 5 band. This service tells the story of Jesus’ final hours in a creative and age-appropriate way.
Good Friday Tenebrae: Through readings and music from the Sanctuary Choir, we remember the somber events of Jesus’ last week. April 19 at 7:30 p.m.
Easter Sunrise: This 6:30 a.m. service in the Pecan Grove will be led by Rev. Mark Brainerd and features communion.
Easter Sanctuary Services: Rev. Matthew Ruffner will lead the Easter services in the Sanctuary at 8:00, 9:30 and 11 a.m. Music by the Sanctuary Choir. Overflow seating will be available in Jubilee Hall.
Easter Worship at Five: Join us for joyful singing, fellowship time, and a good word of resurrection in Founders Hall at 5 p.m.
Shuttle Service: PHPC will offer a round-trip shuttle service from 6:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. from and to St. Marks’ School (north of the church on Preston, just south of Royal Lane). Continuous drop-off and pick-up will be provided at Jubilee Plaza. To minimize wait time, we’ll have three shuttles running concurrently. Please note: the last pick-up from the church leaves at 12:45 p.m.
The Flowering of the Cross: Bring flowers from home, make a flower, or use the flowers that will be available at the church to adorn the cross in Jubilee Plaza. The sixth century tradition of flowering the cross is an especially striking and beautiful way to symbolize the new life that emerges from Christ’s death on Good Friday.
