Grief Care

At PHPC, we know that the dynamics of grief are complex since they involve physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects. We recognize the need for support through the journey that leads to healing, so we offer several opportunities that may help you through the grieving process.

For more information about grief programs and counseling, please contact Paula Kirby at pkirby@phpc.org or 214-368-6348, ext. 113.

Wrestling with Grief

Wrestling with Grief is a five-week class held on Monday nights from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. in the church Parlor. The next class is June 3 – July 1. The workshop is based on Joan Chittister’s book, Scarred by Struggle, Transformed by Hope, in which she explores the Biblical story of Jacob wrestling with God and her own story of battling with life-changing disappointments. The workshop facilitator will be Regina Strader Hunt. Regina is an Elder at First Presbyterian Church Dallas, a commissioned lay pastor, and a Stephen Minister. The five-week class is $40. Questions? Contact Paula Kirby at 214-368-6348, ext. 113 or pkirby@phpc.org.

Faith and Grief Luncheon

On the third Wednesday of every month, PHPC hosts a Faith and Grief Luncheon. These luncheons allow those going through the grieving process to circle together and be strengthened by food, Scripture, prayers, and reflection.

If you are mourning the death of a loved one, we invite you to attend. The luncheons are free and open to the public; however, reservations are required by the third Monday of each month.

To register, call 469-251-9612, or register online here

Luncheons are from noon to 1 p.m. in Jubilee Hall.

Stephen Ministers

Sometimes, we need the care of another person. Stephen Ministry is a program that equips lay persons to provide distinctively Christian one-to-one care to those who are experiencing all kinds of life needs and circumstances - both in our congregation and in our community.
