SEED (Spiritual Enrichment Every Day)

SEED hosts special events during the year that provide sacred times and spaces for persons to experience God's love and grace. Visit the SEED page for the next event.

Through workshops, participants may learn spiritual disciplines and a variety of ways to pray. Noted speakers engage the community in new discovery the wonder of being called and claimed by the Holy Triune God and living in a faithful community.

Stephen Ministry

Sometimes, we need the care of another person. Stephen Ministry is a program that equips lay persons to provide distinctively Christian one-to-one care to those who are experiencing all kinds of life needs and circumstances - both in our congregation and in our community.

Stephen Ministers work together with our pastors to reach more people with Christian care than the pastors can reach by themselves. Stephen Ministers are committed Christian people who:

  • Express God's care through their lives to others.
  • Receive 50 hours of initial training in important caring ministry skills and concepts and are then commissioned as Stephen Ministers.
  • Serve for at least 2 years.
  • Receive continuing education and skill building throughout their time of service.
  • Visit another person regularly and dependably to offer Christian support and care.
  • Are committed to preserving the confidential nature of the caring relationship.

For more about Stephen Ministry, contact Paula Kirby at pkirby@phpc.org or 214-368-6348, ext. 113.

Angels with Aprons

Angels with Aprons provides a special touch that says "we care" through the small meals and cookies we distribute to church members who are homebound.

If you enjoy cooking and would like to share your delicious talent with others, please pick up containers in the closet in the parlor kitchen. Place the filled containers in the parlor kitchen freezer.

Church Gerontologist

With the reality of adults often living far from their aging parents, PHPC has taken a caring and creative approach to meet the on-going needs of our members and their families. Dee Wadsworth, as our Church Gerontologist, leads us in an expanded and dynamic ministry that is not age specific but is offered to everyone who wishes to know more about the aging processing. For more information, contact Dee Wadsworth at dwadsworth@phpc.org.
