Dear PHPC Family:
I write you today with a heavy heart and abiding hope. This morning, Rev. Dr. Blair Monie’s journey with pancreatic cancer came to an end. His beloved Cyndy was by his side, as she has been every day of this journey, and every day of their marriage.
The days ahead will provide opportunities for us to gather as a community of faith and to surround Cyndy and their family with love and support. They will also provide many opportunities for us to reflect and remember our time with Blair.
Your pastors consider it a privilege to walk this journey with you. If you are in need of pastoral care and assistance, please contact Rev. Mark Brainerd in our Pastoral Care Department at or 214.368.6348 ext 134.
The memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 17 at 2 pm.
A few days ago, Blair asked me to read from the Prophet Isaiah. The words provided great comfort to Blair and to all of us in that moment. I pray they will provide comfort and guidance for you in the days ahead.
Even youths will faint and be weary,
and the young will fall exhausted;
but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength,
they shall mount up with wings like eagles,
they shall run and not be weary,
they shall walk and not be faint.
My dear friends, may the love of God, which surpasses all understanding, surround us and comfort us as we journey ahead.
With great hope,
Rev. Matthew Ruffner
