New Years Eve is one of my all time favorite days of the year.

I know many people think it's just a bunch of hocus-pocus, designed by greeting card and champagne companies, but I love it.

I love the excuse to gather together.
I love the countdown to a new day.
I love the gratitude that comes with realizing we have another year to live on this wild and wonderful earth.
I love the new goals, the empty pages in the journal, and the new calendar on the wall.

    It's all. so. good.

I also love the way New Years makes us reflect on the months gone by.
When I look back on the last calendar year, I am aware of so many things to be grateful for, and so many of them involve you all!

Last spring we had our largest lake house retreat yet.
It rained the whole time and still was one of the best weekends of the year.

In May we lost eight members of our group to grad school.
I straight up panicked, but then by September we'd grown double that.
    The Holy Spirit is amazing.

This fall we had three distinct small groups (co-ed, female, and couples), which consistently was one of the highlights of my week.

In November we almost busted out of the walls of my tiny apartment, fitting more people than I thought possible for friendsgiving.

And now we get to start all over again!

This life is such a gift, and I am so darn grateful to share it with you all.
Thank you for being my church.
Here's to another year of holy moments, honest conversations, and deep laughter together!

    Upcoming Events

This group is growing faster than most of us can keep up with (which is an awesome problem to have!). SO, in an effort to get to know one another better, we're offering some casual connection opportunities this spring! Join us when you can! Bring friends. Stay as long as you'd like. We'd love to see you.

    Ladies Night: Tuesday, March 10
Calling all ladies! We're getting together for a candle making workshop at the Paddywax Candle Bar in Deep Ellum! The cost of the class is $40 per person, but the church is subsidizing the cost to help keep it affordable. That means, you only have to pay $15! Sign up quickly, because we will run out of spots fast!

    Small Groups

This fall we tried something new. Instead of offering small groups that lasted all year, we offered "pop-up small groups," a 4-5 week commitment to gather together with a small group of people. One group had a game night. One group had a cookie exchange. Two groups read books together, and all three grew in fellowship and faith.

I have heard wonderful things about all three small groups, and can personally say that my small group meetings were one of the highlights of my fall.

With that said, I really hope you will sign up for a small group this spring!

We will have several small groups, based on people's different demographic interest (couples, co-ed, singles, male/ female, young parent). Ideally, these small groups will meet between end of February- April, depending on each group's individual schedule.

If you would like to add your name to the pot, please sign up for a small group here!

Small groups will be announced in mid-February.

    Lakehouse Retreat

Research shows that it takes 72 hours for a group to form. That means even if you came to worship EVERY single week, you wouldn't have enough hours to truly feel bonded to a group. Community. takes. time.

    Enter- the lake house retreat.

The Thread Lake House retreat is an opportunity to unplug.
It's an opportunity to de-stress, to recenter and to invest in some meaningful relationships.

We will play games, cook meals together, drink wine on the porch, watch sunsets off the dock, study scripture together, laugh a ton, and relax as much as possible.

I have rented a huge lake house that sleeps 30. It is complete with a hot tub, enormous deck, patios, lots of great tables for puzzles and games, a fire place, and a pool table. (Check the photos below!)

    Don't miss this amazing opportunity!

Cost is $40 per person. The weekend is April 24th-26th. We will leave Friday night and will be back Sunday around noon. Hope to see you there!
