What's Next? July 15

July 15, 2019 | News by Rev. Matthew Ruffner

It is with mixed emotions that I write to share with you news of Linda Smith’s retirement, effective at the end of this month. Linda joined the PHPC staff in June of 2002 as an Executive Assistant. Later, she became our Director of Human Resources. Linda has served the church faithfully throughout her time with us, including providing administrative support to the Staff Committee as well as supporting our employees. Her years of service and dedication are greatly valued. Linda will be missed, even as we know she will undoubtedly be enjoying more quality time with her grandchildren and her family. Linda’s last day on staff will be July 31, 2019.

We will recognize Linda’s ministry during the 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday, August 4, 2019.  We look forward to giving God thanks for her ministry with us.
Additionally, we will also say goodbye to a valued member of our custodial staff, William Barree. William has served throughout the week and on Sundays, helping to keep our facility clean and allow for proper setup for ministry events. We are all grateful to William for his contributions to the upkeep and cleanliness of our facility. We will miss his presence among us and wish him well in future endeavors. William’s last day on staff will be July 25, 2019.
Please join me in thanking both of these colleagues as they prepare to leave our staff.

As we say good-bye to valued staff members, I also want to make you aware of two new people joining our team. Karli Boyd and Anthony Gainer were hired in our Communications Department in June, and have already made an impact.

Karli is our Graphic Design Coordinator and will be responsible for designing our promotional materials, worship materials, and other printed and electronic communication.

Anthony Gainer is our Associate Director of Media and Digital Strategies. This is a new position at Preston Hollow aimed at enhancing our digital presence and improving our streaming capabilities. Anthony will help us tell the story of Preston Hollow and its members in a whole new way - through videos, podcasts, and more! You will see him on Sunday mornings and evenings, as he will also provide audio/visual support and lead our streaming and broadcast teams. We are grateful to welcome both these talented people to the team!

Further, I want to make you all aware that Zach Light-Wells has received a title change and will join our youth ministry team, in addition to his leadership for our Worship at 5 service. Zach is now our Associate Director for Emergent Worship and Youth Ministry. Zach will continue to lead our Worship at Five services, as well as all of our youth music programming, and will provide youth ministry program support and leadership. He will report to the Rev. Sarah Johnson, and the Rev. Sarah Are.

These staff changes and additions keep us squarely within our budget and will help us extend the ministries of Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church. A big thanks to the Staff Committee for its ministry and work. Should you have any questions about these changes, please contact the Rev. Sarah Johnson,  .
