Season 6: Mission Conversations (New Episodes) 

Throughout the month of August, our Associate Pastor for Mission & Outreach, Rev. Kathy Lee-Cornell, will host conversations exploring and examining people's call to mission with guests who are serving in mission globally and locally. The Takeaway guests include our mission partners serving in Africa, a seminary dean and professor who is a 4th generation missionary, and a native Dallas resident transforming her South Dallas neighborhood through love and nurture. Listen to their stories and be inspired to listen to ways God is inviting you to explore mission more deeply in your own life! New episodes are released on Mondays.

Monday, August 2nd

Episode 1: PC(USA) Mission Co-Worker Rev. Cheryl Barnes

In this season, Rev. Kathy Lee-Cornell hosts conversations exploring and examining people's call to mission with guests who are serving in mission globally and locally. The Rev. Cheryl Barnes is a mission co-worker supported by PHPC and the Presbyterian World Mission agency in her service in Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe as the education facilitator for the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP). Cheryl arrived in Malawi two months before the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and has remained in Malawi since 2019 to continue her ministry and service.

Monday, August 9th

Episode 2: Dr. Philip Wingeier-Rayo, Dean of Wesley Theological Seminary

In this season, Rev. Kathy Lee-Cornell hosts conversations exploring and examining people's call to mission with guests who are serving in mission globally and locally. Dr. Wingeier-Rayo previously taught at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary and the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. His academic work is informed by 15 years of missionary service where he served in Nicaragua, Cuba, Mexico and the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas. Dr. Wingeier-Rayo is currently writing a book on a Wesleyan theology of mission and evangelism.

Monday, August 16th

Episode 3: Dr. Frank Dimmock, Africa Partner Liaison of the Outreach Foundation

In this season, Rev. Kathy Lee-Cornell hosts conversations exploring and examining people's call to mission with guests who are serving in mission globally and locally. For more than thirty years Frank served the church in Africa as a PC(USA) mission co-worker, focusing on ministries of health and development. PHPC supports the Rebuilding Hope in South Sudan project, which reaches six South Sudanese refugee camps in western Ethiopia through facilitating trauma healing groups and resourcing churches and centers for adult learning with Bibles printed in the Nuer language. 

Monday, August 26th

Episode 4: Alendra Lyons, Mill City Teaching Farm

In this season, Rev. Kathy Lee-Cornell hosts conversations exploring and examining people's call to mission with guests who are serving in mission globally and locally. In 2011, Alendra Lyons moved back to the street where she was born and raised: Collins Avenue in the Mill City neighborhood on the edges of Fair Park in South Dallas. Since her return, Alendra formed the neighborhood crime watch, became president of the Mill City Community Association, and she is now developing the Mill City Teaching Farm, designed to welcome neighborhood children and families to learn, grow, and safely play.
